When it comes to planning a family ski vacation, there are four things to keep in mind

If you are considering booking a catered chalet for your family in a ski resort this year, there are a few things that you will first need to consider. Here is a quick guide to some of the most important considerations for family ski holidays.

1. Childcare

If you are going to be staying in a catered chalet in a ski resort with young children, you may well want to arrange some form of childcare. Just because you have young children, doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a fantastic ski holiday, but you will have to find some form of childcare in order to go off and enjoy yourself on the slopes.

Many resorts now come with childcare facilities. These can include babysitting, playgroups, nurseries or even private nannies, depending on the resort where you book your catered chalet. If you need to arrange childcare, make sure you talk to your booking agent as soon as possible so that you can prepare your arrangements beforehand.

2. Ski Schools

One of the things that you may have to arrange when you arrive in your resort is ski lessons at a specialised ski school. This is necessary for anyone who is just starting out, but even if you have some experience already you may want to take a few lessons for snowboarding or off-piste skiing. Many resorts have ski schools that can arrange group lessons and private lessons for both adults and children.

3. Equipment

If you do not want to take all of your equipment with you to the resort, especially if you are travelling with lots of children, you can rent equipment when you arrive. You should try to find out about this as early as possible because you may well be able to arrange discounts on your equipment rental through the company where you book your catered chalet. You may even be able to get assistance from the company when you arrive to ensure that you find what you are looking for.

4. Ski Passes

If you travel to a resort in the Alps such as the Three Valleys area or the Paradiski area, you will probably want to have a ski pass so that you can explore more of the area. Try to arrange this before you go so that you it will be ready for you upon arrival and you won’t have to waste any more time sorting it out when you arrive.

If you want to book a catered chalet for your family for your ski holiday, keep the above things in mind. They are all important factors to consider so try to sort them out as soon as possible so that you can enjoy a fantastic skiing holiday when you arrive in your chosen resort.
